Calucem distributes gifts earlier than Santa Claus!

As before, with Calucem’s donations the company wants to show that they think about the needs of the youngest in the local community, and that in this community they want to actively contribute to increase the quality of life. One of two new donations went to Mali svijet kindergarten, and the other to the Arena Swimming Club.

PULA – The end of the year and the Christmas and New Year holidays are traditionally the part of the year when we look forward to gifts among other things. However, Calucem has proven that the time is always right for good deeds, as well as for the gifts intended for our youngest residents, by providing two donations. As before, with their donations the company wants to show that they think about the needs of the youngest in the local community; and that in that community they want to actively contribute to increase the quality of life. One of two new donations went to Mali svijet kindergarten, and the other to the Arena Swimming Club.

A wooden house for Zvončići imaginative games
Kindergarten Mali svijet is one of the three preschool institutions founded by the City of Pula. It includes eight facilities in which there are 30 nursery and kindergarten groups with about five hundred children. One of these kindergartens is the Zvončići kindergarten, a small regional kindergarten located in a residential building on Osječka Street in Pula’s Stoja neighbourhood. Fifteen children from this kindergarten, together with their teachers, participate in the Kindergarten in Nature program, which has been designed so that children gain valuable experiences, knowledge and skills by direct contact with nature, active research and learning. The program enables children to learn about nature in nature, and it develops children’s ecological sensitivity and readiness for practical action because they get to know nature, which teaches them to love and appreciate it in all its forms. As this kindergarten also has a small yard, the idea was born that it is enriched with a kind of toy with which staying outdoors for children would be more exciting and fun. The kindergarten turned to the Calucem cement plant for a financial donation, because it recognized it as a responsible company that invests in the community, and a wooden house was installed in the kindergarten yard during October to the great joy of the children. This gift has enriched the space of the yard and brings joy every day, and gives birth to new ideas and games for the current generation of kindergarten kids, and as it is a large and high-quality toy, it will remain available to future generations of Zvončići, who will enjoy designing new and interesting games in the yard of his kindergarten.

Non-swimmer training program
The Arena Swimming Club also received a donation from Calucem for a program called Croatia Swims, which has been implemented for the seventh year in a row, and which has been supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Fažana and Vodnjan city. The program runs during September, October, November and December, and it includes as many as 1,200 children in the first and second grades of Pula primary schools and primary schools in Fažana and Vodnjan. A simple test determines swimming skills, and all those that reveal themselves as non-swimmers or weaker swimmers are provided with free training for 18 hours, which, like the entire program, is conducted by experienced Arena coaches Zvjezdana, Sanjin, Stefani and Ana. In this way, non-swimmers and weaker swimmers have the opportunity to learn proper swimming techniques, get acquainted with swimming as a sport and be focused on a healthy lifestyle and quality leisure time.

The Arena Swimming Club

It is also useful for a community in which the percentage of non-swimmers is significantly reduced, and through this project, the Arena swimming club is trying to bring swimming closer to everyone as one of the healthiest sports activities. This is exactly one of the focuses of Calucem, a company that promotes its values under corporate social responsibility activities on a daily basis. The Love for Community program, of which Calucem is extremely proud of, has existed for more than ten years. The idea of the program is to support the development of the local community in Pula and beyond with various donations and sponsorships. The program provides donations and sponsorships to a wide range of institutions, including educational institutions, health care institutions, cultural and charitable institutions, as well as sports clubs.
